Jenny’s Kindergarten and Early Learning Riverwood is located in the heart of Riverwood, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the train station and plaza. We have been providing exceptional education and care to our community for the last 15 years. This has cemented our centre into the community of Riverwood and helped us build close connections with local schools and businesses. We regularly head out into the community as we believe that incorporating our community into our program is essential for our children’s development.

From the moment, you walk into our centre, you feel welcomed and acknowledged. Our centre focuses on being, becoming and belonging to ensure all our children, families and greater community feel a sense of belonging to the centre. We acknowledge and celebrate all of our family’s cultural backgrounds through different events, celebrations and through our program.

Here at Jenny’s Kindergarten Riverwood, we have embedded cultural learning throughout our program as we believe all children deserve to learn about our ancient country and rich & diverse cultures of First Nations people that continue to this day. By embedding this learning educators can impart the wonder of Indigenous knowledge, and support Indigenous children’s sense of identity and belonging, as well as promoting a culture of understanding and respect towards cultural diversity for all children.

We have 4 large, purpose built rooms, staggered across two levels that have been designed and set up to showcase our daily learning curriculum. We cater for children aged from 6 weeks of age up to school aged children. Downstairs, we have our Nursery and toddler’s room. Both rooms link to our freshly renovated play space. Our outdoor area was designed with an indigenous theme in mind using only recycled materials and environmentally thoughtful. Our rooms where designed to give the children the freedom to have outdoor and indoor play, as our yard is shaded and hats are encouraged.

Our preschool aged rooms are upstairs, with adjoining rooms and educators who work together to deliver an exceptional school readiness program that not only gets our children ready for school, also assists with the children’s social and emotional readiness. In our Pre-kindy room we also deliver a special JK prep program that was designed by an Early childhood teacher. Our program prepares children for one of their biggest milestones, going to “Big School” by building the children’s language, emotional, physical, literacy and fine motor skills. This structured program is term based and assists children in learning these fundamental skills. We use Jolly Phonics, library hub, school visits, experimenting with lunch boxes and uniforms.

We also do “Urban Kindy” In our Pre-Kindy room. Urban Kindy focuses on getting the children out an about & surrounded by nature. We believe the benefits of nature play are enormous in children’s development. We use this time to focus on our mental health and physical wellbeing, something that is most of the time, look over in an early years learning setting.

We have ample parking on site for families to use whilst dropping off and collecting their children and service is proud that we have loyal educators and families boasting a mini community of our own. Centre Director: Shae

Hello, My name is Shae and I am the Centre Director here at Jenny’s Kindergarten Riverwood.

From the time I could talk I’ve always known that I wanted to work with children. I started my journey by becoming a History & Religion teacher for high schools before deciding to move into the Early Childhood & Care setting. For most of my career, I have been a room leader for nursery rooms. This has given me the chance to learn the importance of being reliable and flexible. Using these skills I have been able to create strong learning programs for our children and encourage them to thrive on a daily basis.

During my time at Jenny’s I have loved encouraging our children and families to be active members of our local communities and building strong links by participating in events and holding fundraising drives for local charities. I’m passionate about creating a space where children can learn and feel supported whilst also maintaining a strong sense of community for our families and those that live nearby. It takes a village to raise a child, and I truly believe that Jenny’s Kindergarten is a loving and supporting village that can help your child grow.

I believe that the learning that occurs during the first five years of an infant’s life is the most important and therefore I strive to ensure we never miss an opportunity. During my time as Director our team has worked hard to ensure that our centre is welcoming, inclusive and holds a high standard of education. We aim to lay a strong foundation for a child’s learning so that they are best prepared for their time in primary education.

I’ve enjoyed my time here at Jenny’s Kindergarten, as I can see how much their core values & beliefs align with my own. I very much look forward to meeting with the families in our tight knit Riverwood community and surrounding suburbs.
